Character

Name: Naminé
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Gender: Female
Age: ~15 (apparent age) ~1 (real age)
Time Period: Day 356 of 358/2 Days
Wing Color: White fading to gold
History: http://www.khwiki.net/Namin%C3%A9#Story

Personality: Naminé is a Nobody, which in the context of KHverse, are believed to not have emotions. In Naminé's case, there are several pieces of evidence to the contrary, perhaps because of her unique nature (being the Nobody of someone whose heart has no Darkness and therefore cannot be lost to it, as DiZ notes). Throughout Re:Chain of Memories, she displays a wide range of emotions, from guilt at manipulating Sora's memories, horror at the treatment of the Riku Replica, surprise and gratitude at Sora's forgiveness, and disappointment when he chooses to reclaim his old memories over the ones of Castle Oblivion.

One of the central focuses of Naminé's life has been to make up for her mistakes and the damage they've caused. To her, her actions have caused pain and suffering for so many people - Sora and his friends, plus others such as the Riku Replica, Roxas and Xion, whose lives were greatly impacted and (as of her canon point) would have to likely be cut short for the sake of fixing her first mistake: tampering with Sora's memories. Despite the fact that many effects were caused by the meddling of the Organization, she still feels personally responsible. This gives her a great deal of guilt. She appears visibly unhappy in 358/2 Days at the possibility (and later realization) of Xion claiming Sora's memories as her own, thus ensuring she would be unable to survive their extraction.

Meeting Sora in Castle Oblivion had a great impact on Naminé. She was greatly touched by the forgiveness he showed her, despite her manipulation. It's this compassion that helps strengthen her own, as well as her sense of right and wrong. Not that it wasn't present before - she appears guilty all throughout Chain of Memories at being forced to manipulate Sora's memories. Instead, it's more accurate to say it strengthens her drive to act on that sense of morality.

Naminé does not appear to act rashly or lightly, but when she does act, she is very driven. For example, she does not initially attempt to subvert or fight back against Marluxia or Larxene. However when an opportunity does present itself, she does act, quite decisively too.

It's important to note her loneliness. She was born alone in Castle Oblivion, and found shortly afterward by the Organization, who only wished to use her powers to manipulate Sora. The loneliness she felt then was one of the key reasons she overrode her conscience and meddled with Sora's memories. While she has mostly dismissed her own personal feelings on the matter, it's likely some elements of it still remains, which - in addition to their promise - is part of why she wishes to seek out Sora after he awakens.

Lastly, Naminé seems to hold individuals - no matter how insignificant - with respect. This is a sharp contrast to DiZ, who feels that people such as herself, Roxas and Xion (as well as Nobodies as a whole) have no right to exist and should be treated as such. She speaks to them all equally, allowing everyone - from Riku to Xion - to come to their own decisions, so long as she has the chance to give them a choice.

Strengths:
Physical - As a Nobody, Naminé has the power to open darkness corridors, as she uses in Kingdom Hearts II to help Kairi escape from her cell in the World that Never Was. She also has power over memories - though only of specific people. These powers can be used to pull apart, rearrange, and even create new memories. It's important to note that she can't erase memories, or make someone completely forget - the memories will always still be there, just deep inside the person's heart. Additionally, she can sometimes create illusions using her powers - such as when she turns Kairi's charm and the Destiny Islands card into the yellow star "good luck charms," or when she takes the form of Kairi when speaking to Riku. These incidents are generally small and few in number, however.

Mental - Perhaps because of her experience with memories, Naminé appears to have a pretty innate understanding of a lot of things, especially for someone who is technically just under a year old. Despite being created at the same time Roxas was, she appears much more in the way of self-aware in a shorter amount of time - if one approximates when Chain of Memories takes place in relation to Days. She also understands that it's better for Riku to fight Ansem in his heart on his own, rather than resort to her erasing his memories.

Emotional - Adding onto the above, she has a pretty good emotional and moral understanding. Throughout her tampering of Sora's and the Riku Replica's, she appears guilty, indicating that she understands that what she is doing is wrong. She knows how to manipulate Sora's memories to create a realistic relationship between the two of them in the past, even before she erases his memories of Kairi. She also appears to have some experience with hiding her emotions for the sake of others, as she (mostly) brushes aside her disappointment when Sora elects to reclaim his old memories.

Weaknesses:
Physical - Physically, Naminé is not that strong. In the end, she is more of a noncombatant, with her only real power that she knows at this point being that over memories, and even those powers are selective on who they work (those connected to Sora).

Mental - In the end, while she does appear to have a lot of innate knowledge, the fact is that Naminé is still very young, with only one year's worth of memories that are her own. There are plenty of things she hasn't experienced, things that are going to be new for her. Additionally, unless she has a strong reason otherwise, she appears to be easily intimidated or influenced - how Larxene and Marluxia were able to influence her to meddle with Sora's memories to alleviate her own loneliness, and how DiZ was able to take control of the comatose Sora, Donald and Goofy shortly after they went to sleep, because she likely knew she wouldn't be able to protect them.

Emotional - Like many Kingdom Hearts characters, Naminé appears to be prone to self-blame. She feels that her actions personally ruined or were ruining the lives of many people - such as Roxas and Xion - despite the fact that Organization XIII's meddling was just as much, if not more to blame. She speaks a great deal about "her mistakes," to Data-Sora about why she introduced hurt (and by extension, the Bugs) to Jiminy's journal (I know re:coded is past Naminé's canon point but I personally have headcanoned that she'd begun to modify Jiminy's Journal by Day 356). This is compounded by the fact that she is a Nobody, and the upshot of it all is she often feels as though she isn't supposed to exist.

Samples (ALL samples must be set in Luceti-verse.)

First Person: Considering my Third person is pretty introspective already, Q&A please... orz

Third Person: She couldn't say she was fond of feeling like a situation was totally out of her control, as much as she'd felt it for the past year or so. And yet Luceti was a lot like that. There were so many changes, so many things she had to get used to. So many people, though to be fair, any number of people more than five would've seemed like a lot, after spending most of her life in isolation, first at Castle Oblivion, then in The Old Mansion in Twilight Town.

It was both easy and difficult at the same time. Easy in that the pressing obligations she'd been worried about for the past several months - gathering and reassembling Sora's memories, trying (and failing) to prevent them from affecting Xion and Roxas... suddenly it was gone. She had time to adjust, time to really think, time to talk with people. It also made her happy - and in some ways relieved - to see so many of the others here, alive and well (or as well as one could be in a place like this), making their own memories.

It was so abrupt though, so unexpected. And that was part of what made it difficult. The convergence of times was confusing enough, and so much had happened to her friends here. Months and even years that she hadn't been here to witness. Many of them weren't the same as the people she'd known back home.

Not to mention the fact that restoring Sora's memories had been such a huge, involved part of her life for so long. Now that it was gone... she couldn't help but feel the tiniest bit lost. She'd known, on some level, that her job would eventually be finished, and after that point she would need to find out something else - some purpose or reason for being or thing to do. But with Xion and Roxas taking Sora's memories, Riku trying to distract the Organization, and DiZ insisting that she not waste time, there hadn't been time to think about it - save her promise to Sora of a friendship without lies. And then suddenly she'd been transported here, and Sora was gone, and now she was left to find something else.

At least some things didn't change. She still had her sketchbook in front of her, still had her crayon or pencil in hand - whichever she felt like that day - could still draw, at least. No memories involved this time.
